Secondary class..
I am a Samurai roleplayer who has recently started a Monk character, Saicho Kenshin.
For the purpose of Roleplaying i want to make him a Mo/W, a monk with a hammer. Being relativly new to the game I am unsure of his, due to the lack of the primary warrior skill of strength. Any suggestions? |

Mo/W can go smiting and protection, and choose between Tactic or Hammer Mastery. use adrenal skills and stance from the warrior side.

I would not suggest a hammer because that means low energy and probably not enough for a good smiter

Just so you know you will get lots of flames when joining parties as a mo/war. lol, but play the game the way you want. It can be an effective build. Arvydas suggested a good route. smitting, hammer. FYI, monks are squishy and go down easy. They tend to be best at the back of the group, cause later in the game you will die in 2-4 hits.

If you want to melee, protection would be a good choice from the monk line. The only strengh based hammer skill that I can think of is dwarven battle stance, so if you can live without that one, you should be ok.

But as you said, you wanted to RP, so go with what you like, even if it dies a lot |

Some usefull advice.. although i am still a lil' confused, as to what to do. Do all monks take alot of damage, and because of this, it is a bad idea to have them at the front line?
Also, do hammer attacks usually use up energy? and so an axe would be better.. |

Monks take damage as badly as Mesmers, Necros and Eles. Your armour choices are limited to your primary class, and Monks have caster armour.
Rangers have heavier armour and warriors heavier yet. As a front rank fighter, you'll be spending so many of your skill slots making up for your "squishiness" that your overall effectiveness will be reduced. If you want to RP, that's cool, but you will take flak and will have to be exemplary in your play to convinve people the build works. |
